Day 1 Canada – Hong Kong
Leave Vancouver with Cathay Pacific Airways to Kota Kinabalu via Hong Kong..
Day 2 Hong Kong – Kota Kinabalu
Meet and greet at the airport and transfer to hotel. The rest of the day is free for leisure.
Day 3 Kota Kinabalu National Park – Poring Hot Spring – Sabah Tea Plantation (B/L/D)
Depart by 0800hrs for a 2-hour drive to the Crocker Range. Enjoy superb mountain views as you travel to Kinabalu Park located at about 1,500 meters above sea level. Kinabalu Park is a botanist’s paradise with over a thousand species of Orchids, numerous different Rhododendrons and Pitcher Plants. The numerous types of bird species, most montane and several which are endemic, are equally fascinating. After lunch, head to Poring Hotsprings. A lowland dipterocarp forest makes up most of the vegetation at Poring and is an excellent place to view lowland birds and some mammals. The canopy walkway will give one a bird’s eye view of the tropical rainforest. Continue to Sabah Tea Plantation and check in upon arrival. Overnight at Sabah Tea Plantation or Similar Category.
Day 4 Sabah tea Plantation – Sandakan – Kinabatangan River (B/L/D)
Breakfast. Enjoy the fresh morning air and go for a morning walk around the Sabah Tea Plantation. Later, take the guided tour to learn how “RAINFOREST” raw tea leaves are processed and packed for export. Check out and make a quick stop to another stunning mother earth magical encounter! A visit to Kampung Luanti Baru, a conservation practice at Tagal Moroli River where this project has won recognitions and support from the local government. Alternatively known as Fish Massage, deep your feet into the river and see all the fish gather and gently nibble away your scaly and dead skin - an experience not to be missed! Lunch en route and drive to Bilit Village at Kinabatangan Area. Check in upon arrival. Dinner and later, enjoy a night cruise to search for nocturnal animals. Return to lodge and overnight. Overnight at Lodge (no air-condition) along the Kinabatangan River.
Day 5 Kinabatangan River (B/L/D)
Wake up to the sound of Borneo. We will take a 1 ½ hour boat trip. The dramatic change of colors in the horizon as dawn sets in and beautiful birds of the Kinabatangan region make this boat ride an interesting one. Lastly, go for a river cruise in search of wildlife in late afternoon. You might be lucky to spot the most famous creature of all, the bizarre looking, Proboscis Monkeys. Return to the lodge and overnight. Overnight at Lodge (no air-condition) along the Kinabatangan River.
Day 6 Kinabatangan – Gomantong Cave – Sepilok – Sandakan (B/L/D)
Breakfast. Depart to Sandakan and we will pass through scenic countryside, local villages and plantation. En route visit Gomantong Caves famous for the Chinese delicacy, bird nest. Lunch along the way and next stop is the Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary. Visit the Orangutans which have been orphaned, rescued from illegally captivity or injured. Witness the feeding of the orangutans in the afternoon session, before continue to Sandakan. Check in upon arrival and free at leisure. Overnight. Overnight Sabah Hotel or similar.
Day 7 Sandakan – Selingan Island (Turtle Island) (B/-/D)
Meet at 0800hrs at your hotel lobby and transfer to the jetty. A 45 minutes boat ride will take us to Selingan Island where you can swim, sunbath or snorkel (gear can be hired and subject to availability). At night, witness the phenomenal sights of the famous Green and Hawksbill turtles coming ashore to lay eggs. Overnight at chalet (basic, communal bathroom or attached bathroom chalet).
Day 8 Selingan – Lahad Datu – Danum Valley (B/L/D)
Depart Selingan Island and proceed for an approximate 4-hour overland journey to Lahad Datu. You will then be taken on another 2½-hour overland journey through interesting outskirt roads to the Danum Valley. Take a break for lunch before proceed to the Canopy Walkway. Have dinner at the resort and attend a brief briefing and watch a slide presentation of the reserve before going out for a night drive in an open-air jeep in search of nocturnal animals (weather permitting). Overnight at Borneo Rainforest Lodge.
Day 9 Danum Valley (B/L/D)
Go for an early morning trek to the Canopy Walkway at 0600hrs before breakfast. After breakfast, there will be guided activities to the Kadazandusun burial site - "Coffin Cliff" and trekking to the "View Point" for a bird's eye view of the area. After lunch, you can go for the water tubing activity at the Danum river (optional). After dinner, go out for a night drive again in an open-air jeep in search of nocturnal animals (weather permitting). Overnight at Borneo Rainforest Lodge.
Day 10 Danum Valley – Kota Kinabalu (B/L/D)
Breakfast at the resort. Free at leisure or enjoy a guided morning walk at the Segama Trail/Hornbill Trail. Check-out after lunch and depart for a 2½ hour journey back to Lahad Datu where you can catch your onward flight back to Kota Kinabalu. Meet and Transfer to the hotel. Free for the rest of day. Overnight at the Hyatt Regency BKI.
Day 11 Kota Kinabalu – Canada (B/-/-)
Breakfast at the hotel, then transfer to the airport for the flight back to Canada via Hong Kong.
